The educational goal of this assignment is for you to gain additional insights about psychological research from the perspective of a participant.
Students must participate in three experiment hours during the semester. Sign-up sheets will be posted in the first floor hallway of Judd Hall, near the front door, for experiments that have been approved by the department research committee. When you take part in an experiment you have signed up for, you must obtain the experimenter's signature on an Experiment Participation sheet, which you can obtain from the experiment sign-up bulletin board at Judd Hall.
You must turn in your signed Experiment
Participation sheets to David Umlor (Graduate TA) by
Friday May 12 (NOTE new deadline!).
NOTE: there is a penalty if you fail to show up for your assigned time for an experiment you have signed up for: 4 points will be deducted from your course points.
An alternative exercise is available for any students who choose not to participate in experiments, or who cannot complete their experiment participation credits by the end of the semester for any reason. To fulfill 1 hour's equivalent of experiment participation using this option, you must write a 1 page paper that briefly but clearly summarizes the purpose, methods and conclusions from one of the research articles on reserve for PSYC105 in the Psychology Library (1st floor, Judd Hall). Deadline = Friday May 12.
