- EXAMS (90% of
final grade)
- Four quarterly exams, 60 points each
(240 points in total)
- Optional fifth test (final exam period),
60 points
-
- Tests will be comprised entirely of
objective questions (i.e., multiple choice, true-false, matching
concepts/names to definitions). Material to be tested will come
from both lectures and textbook readings. These exams are
not cumulative -- they will cover only the material
for the just-preceding quarter of the course.
-
- A 5th, optional exam will be given during
the scheduled final exam period. Note that this test will
be cumulative, to cover the material of the entire semester. This
is to keep the optional fifth test fair and equitable, since it
serves the following two important purposes:
- It is the only "make up" opportunity for missing
any quarterly exam.
- Alternatively, you can take it to replace your lowest grade
from the four quarterly tests.
- The only permissible excuses for
missing a quarterly exam are serious illness (i.e, doctor's note)
or family emergency (e.g., death in the family); must be
requested by exam time.
